Google is not in the business of supplying you with information, but delivering you to advertisers. The info is just the bait, and so they don’t want to surprise or shock you with data that runs against your prejudices. The price of ‘free’ data is living in a dangerous bubble.

When I was interviewed at Google, years ago, one of my interviewers asked me: "What's the best way to know which is the original source of a given piece of information?". The correct answer, which I didn't have at the time, makes all more disturbing.

When all the information comes through you, or from you, you're can certainly where is it origin and author.

Isn’t that obvious though? The first publishing of the information? Ground zero?

It sure is. At my time during the interview I was more focused in other technical aspects such as spectral analysis for figuring out text fragments. Regardless, I consider it relevant when a company tries to make all information go through it.
