Spare the rod, spoil the child. Spanking is not the only form of discipline, but those of us with kids understand it is sometimes necessary and the most effective. God knew what he was doing when he gave us this directive.

The ‘rod’ is the rod of reproof. The rod was used by shepherds to guide their sheep. Shepherds don’t use it to beat their sheep. Jesus is the great shepherd and he never spanked his disciples.
-
His disciples were grown men. Unless someone is into that kind of thing, I would assume most men are not being spanked
-
The rod also used by Shepherds was to beat off an attack by a wild animal that threatened the flock, you are taking that verse out of context. Discipline and disciple are very similar words for a reason. Perhaps read Matthew 18:6?

I'd have to contend then, that if parenting is failing with their methods, then our left leaning schools and TV programming are adjusting our children's ideologies way too easily and readily accepted by their Young Minds... After all, utopian thoughts are much more appealing...pic.twitter.com/xNZkEK7M9Q

I know of some parents that don't do the spanking thing and are very much into the whole progressive approach to it. Their less than 4 yr old daughter is a tantrum filled screaming mess every single day that talks back very disrespectfully and even hits or spits.
-
Obviously something went wrong earlier on, or this is simply a problem child. But when the child is at this kind of point, I think physical punishment needs to be on the table.

I have worked in K-12 for a few years and there is definitely a lack of discipline and personal accountability. It's very sad, so many children that have parent that don't set healthy boundries.

@KingBee0102 Some millennials act like that because they weren’t given limits by loving parents. They are a result of ‘everyone gets a trophy’ syndrome.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Having “spanked their children” means little; once? Twice? Follow up love and guidance, etc important to know.

First thing that came to mind for me as well. Not sure how a researcher could isolate this one action out of the millions. This is one time I get to disagree with SM. I like it.

He’s very against spanking. He thinks it’s “violence”, a very “liberal” viewpoint. Certainly can be abused but not evil

and it was 100% 70 years ago. We built the present spanking kids. What has the present built but snowflakes?

When anti-Liberals rely on Liberal research talking points... The same "researchers" who claim that men can become women, there's no difference between men and women, and Global Warming is a huge issue and will flood New York City by 2014.

Positive and negative incentives are needed to raise a child properly. Beatings alone dont work
