I am sorry I respect your thinking on many things but this is wrong. This is another attack by progressives on our social structure. We are not talking about abuse but consequences for bad actions. Perhaps we should let everyone out of jail also.

A little tap on the hand and spanking is ok in my books I was spanked that's what missing today the kids r running the show they have no respect for their parents

I can only speak for myself in saying that I am in no way traumatized from what was completely normal "corporal punishment" as a kid. I feel that it built character and established a precedent of consequences for actions. That being said, I must side with the research in general.

I agree with everything u say Ryan except your last phrase

I think it is largely up to the individual (some people break from the slightest hardship and have no coping skills, others move on, soldier up and learn). People are sensitive these days, so physical punishment seems like an archaic and Draconian practice to the New-School.

Why do u think society is screwed up it starts at home if they is no punishment when they do wrong they grow up thinking the world owes them something and reality is the world owes them nothing

Let's say that spanking is an ineffective way to discipline children, and that there are better alternatives. That doesn't prove it is child abuse

Not disciplining your children in a thoughtful, firm way IS abusive. Some of your kids will need it, while others won’t. Takes wisdom to know how to navigate it.

No researcher in academia would dare risk her/his career by publishing a study contradicting the prevailing [fill in the blank]-ist meme about childrearing. The purpose of academic research is getting more grants, not discovering the truth.

Tell that to the generation of kids I used to watch in child care...they follow their own rules, run their households and have no sense of responsibility or right or wrong...and I'm a "millennial". Academics don't know shit about childcare. Proof is in REC regs ineffectiveness...
