There is a world of difference between spanking when used in loving discipline without anger and "beating" a child. Those that speak against spanking usually fail to draw the distinction.

"Best interest of the child" has always been a red herring to misdirect from "best interest of the mother" leading to "best profits for the lawyers"

1 Spanking isn't violence. Violence isn't spanking. 4. Circumcision is fine 7 Students accept debt to obtain a product they believe to be worth the debt. There need not be discussion about this any more than we need a national discussion about the price of Big Macs.
-
If Spanking isn't violence then what is it then? It's physical force to cause pain. That's violence. How is mutilating a baby's genitals without consent fine?
-
Spanking causes more fear than pain. If you are trying to cause pain you are not spanking. It is a highly effected disciplinary tool. Not anger. Never anger. It is getting the child's attention. It is a preventative measure.
-
Fear is worse than pain
-
Old you rather your child be fearful of fire or be burned? You are spinning the clear meaning so as to create a strawman. The child is not left in a state of fear. Fallacies only cost you credibility.
-
If you need to hit a child to teach them dangers of fire you've proven your ignorance & lack of communication skills: don't parent anyone

Stefan has a good book for you Jude. The Art of the Argument. Read it.

The only human beings who society still considers acceptable to act upon w/physical violence are CHILDREN.Hitting is a weakness Read that.

Love you to bits Stefan but how you can look at millennials not see the need for spanking is beyond me.
-
Spanking is ONLY needed if you abdicate you responsibility as a parent and don't teach them the meaning of the word NO before they can even say the word NO. At that point it is useless anyways. You gotta tech them firmly the meaning of the word NO when they are very young.
-
When a parent has a child who has learned the word “no” and it’s meaning, and the child tests the parent’s resolve, a calm and reasoned spanking is a great way to firmly remind a child of what “no” means...
