There is a world of difference between spanking when used in loving discipline without anger and "beating" a child. Those that speak against spanking usually fail to draw the distinction.

I was spanked growing up; when used appropriately, spanking is a helpful disciplinary tool. I am very much in favor of corporal punishment when warranted.
