I'm willing to bet, the mother of that boy had tried for years to get help. I've seen this before. The only way te school/state stepped in was when the mom had to file a charge against her son, who had traumatic brain injury, had run out of schools that could handle him.

The school would only offer in home teaching. The county judge intervened, and the state helped place in a residential school. District school showed up at every iep meeting with a lawyer to fight mother. It shouldn't had to be so difficult for that poor mom.

The should not have spent 2 months in juvenile detention in order for a county judge be able to ensure the boy got help. The single mom could not work BC she had to stay home to watch him, and the teachers that came to teach.
