So basically Uber is confirming that women CHOOSE to not work as many hours as men (more time with kids / family) and are more aggressive when it comes to finding opportunities (hello genetics). But somehow this is going to be a mans fault .. eyeroll.jpg

Whenever there is inequality of outcomes perceived discrimination will be the cause , everything else demands effort and we don't like that.

Thanks for this, great info. What bums me out is I’m sure some of women’s preferences/decisions here are driven by concerns for her safety, which can be hard to really classify as a “choice”. Still interesting though!

It's as much of a choice as not taking a job logging or at an oil rig or in a commercial fishing boat

Except this was only in the context of Uber driving. And it was left out of the analysis. Just pointing out a fact. I am aware of the injury rates for men in other occupations. Seems they could put women drivers with women passengers to help negate.

Well, male programmers wrote the code to favor male drivers. Or men just drive faster. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Surges usually happen at night around bars and it makes sense that women on average wouldn't want to take those more dangerous albeit rewarding trips.
