As a parent and a human being, I feel for her. But the reality is this is what her and like-minded career women (and the feminist movements have wanted). This is the sad reality of many 'gender-equality' career women. Temporary 'success' for long term emptiness and sadness

Perhaps the better perspective to take is why are all these women being encouraged to have children in their 40's?? That is far past a reasonable age to start a family.

The feminist credo that women should "have it all" may be less about oppression by the patriarchy and more of a symptom. of a sort of existential denial.

This is why I am secretly hoping the Murphy Brown revival is about how she wishes she spent more time with her kid.

High IQ people ought to have more children. The welfare state is subsidizing reproduction of less productive lower IQ people. Bad idea, because the welfare state is paid for by the productivity of intelligent people.

This is depressing. Marry young, have a family, career can wait. I'm in my mid 30s starting a professional career. Is it ideal? Well no, but if you want a family, they should come first.

Confucius says: The only way you can have your cake and eat it too, is by vomiting. OK Confucius didn't say it. I did. But it's still true.

(roughly quoted.....) In the US, the number of women freezing their eggs skyrocketed from 475 in 2009 to nearly 8,000 in 2015. Gina Bartasi, former chief executive at fertility benefits company Progyny, predicts up to 76,000 women could elect to freeze their eggs this year.

Why not just have babies naturally @ a younger age? If you think single momhood is OK @ 40 something why not earlier? Freezing eggs, fertilizing them, hoping one implants - kills many zygotes.

Her plan was to work a few more years, find a great guy to marry and still have a house full of her own children. So, the real reason was all about finding a great guy in her late 30s and nothing to do with her career.

The latent purpose of developing technology to freeze a woman’s eggs is to cheat (or give the impression of being able to cheat) the natural process of fertility that women are beholden to.The unspoken hindbrain message is that a woman has more time to optimize Hypergamy.
