Why would a Haitian need French lessons? Don't they already speak it?

Haitian Creole and French have different grammar patterns. The vocabulary is similar, but not exactly the same, too. Hope that helps explain things! :) Only about 50% of Haitians speak French and Creole. The rest just speak Creole.

I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure. It just seemed weird on the surface, but that makes sense. Thank you!

Funny how understanding the @nytimes is about Canada’s limits on handling refugees and illegal immigration but how they don’t apply that same standard to US illegal immigration and the strain it puts our country under as well. Usual hypocrisy.

If she fears for her life, she can apply for Amnesty. That's kinda why it exists. It's not guaranteed of course, but it's an option.

What I don’t understand is that if u read the article she claimed 2 fear 4 her life because of her dead husband’s family wanting 2 kill her 4 her inheritance but she left her son behind in Haiti when she fled. If her life was in danger due 2 money wouldn’t her sons be as well?

Whatever those "limits" are they are probably not restrictive enough....migrants will continue to see CAN as a soft touch & easy gibbs for many years yet

That is standard welfare. She's lucky she even got that instead of a boot out the door. It's never enough for the dirty unwashed masses demanding more and their journalist keepers who peddle this invasion.

Our fucking government welcomes them. Gives them $$ shelter and health care/dental. Then after years of court we might send them back to their country. M.A.G.A.
