        McCarthy was 100% right there were highly-placed Soviet spies in government. The Venona cables ultimately proved it. But he wasn't any good, at all, in trying to find them.

        It is kind of funny that mcathyism is meant to be someone falsely accusing people of being russians. When mcarthy was right.History proved him to be the exact truth So mcarthyism should be changed to mean "someone who tells the truth and gets falsely labelled a liar by liars"
