I think that Americans' bewilderment at Canadians&Brits love for their universal health care despite its faults is similar to our puzzlement at way you are about 2nd Amend. That's not a criticism of anyone/anything. Just that certain things are in each culture's DNA.

Waiting until you can afford it vs when you can get it are totally different. Most will never afford American health care models

I would say that it has a lot to do with our gov paying to bring immigrants to Canada. They don’t contribute immediately & use resources
