Socialism requires a qualifier. There's National Socialism. That's bad. Democratic Socialism, not so bad. Ask Sweden and Denmark . . . countries consistently in Forbes best countries to do business list who are also kicking our asses at technology. That's not communism.

One of the biggest problems in the US is the black or white approach to things. Socialism had its day. It revolutionised many changes. Just because it does not apply today, you cannot ignore what it did in the past century: unions, basic rights and freedoms, etc.

The American Corporate Welfare State, or Capitalism as it is sometimes called, is merely a secular religion, where the corporations become God's, their brands become the religion, and the Mall's are the houses of worship.
