The goal of parenting is to create self-sufficient virtues in children. Applying external pressure and punishments tends to teach them fear-based compliance rather than the internalization of moral standards.

He's too busy being a snake, sucking up to every movement that births online so he can get more subs, regardless of what positions that means he must suck up to. No amount of snekking is too much if it's ultimately for his perceived greater good.

And for me, giving them exposure to Jesus Christ. I won’t always be there to look after and protect them. But my Lord will.

I would agree with the goal in part and that the punishment shouldn’t be fear based, but how does forfeiting punishment/pressure teach morally acceptable standards?

Tell me which moral standards teach a child not to stick their hand in a fire? All consequence lessons are fear based and you can't escape that. That's real world.

Parents should have mission statements when it comes to raising their children. Mine, raise my sons to love God and appreciate all that has been given them, feel loved, respect women, and always take responsibility.

Finding philosophy really makes you wonder wtf your parents and teachers were doing with their lives, if not instilling kids with moral principles. I guess long division is more important in our education system ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I internalized fighting back about the 5th time my dear dad knocked me cold. When I got 17, it worked. Never felt better. Or more morally justified.
