Forgiveness never comes becuz the abuser is "sorry" or pays the victim back (monetarily or otherwise). It is born in the heart of the offended. Usually a testament 2 the victims character, nothing w do with forced repentance in order 2 avoid further consequences 4 the guilty

Forgiveness is a matter of choice for the aggrieved notwithstanding any attempt at restitution on the part of the wrongdoer.

Forgiveness is one thing. Reconciliation another. They’re not synonymous necessarily.

But according to the Christian values you were touting earlier, all one needs is to ask God's forgiveness. So now you agree that personal responsibility and restitution in this world is what matters. Great. Welcome to secular humanism.

Courts never enforce “restitution”.

Real forgiveness is a deep inner feeling of freedom from hate, disappointment, revenge etc... A burden gone. To tell the abuser is just the next step, but not necessary for the victim. Receiving the Forgiveness is never earned.
