Investing money rather than spending it on corporate sports swag is a good start.

I raised my 2 kids on almost nothing. No emerg funds ever. No holidays ever. No extras. But they still got their PhD's somehow.

How could they, near 85% of every dime they earn is eaten by taxes.
-
Where the hell do you live that the tax is 85%?
-
Your employer pays taxes on your behalf, then you pay taxes, then sales, gas, property, cell, etc. Plus every thing you buy from Corp
-
has taxes built into it's price. Then any gains from investments. Don't forget inflation. And probably 1000 other taxes i could think of.
-
I don't think 85 is far off when you add it all up.
-
I'm aware of all those taxes. Inflation isn't a tax either. It does NOT add up to anywhere near 85% of gross income.
-
Bernanke says it is a tax. https://youtu.be/D4yBrxmEOkY And where do you think the absolutely crazy productivity gains of the last 50 went? Taxes
-
lol If you think inflation is a tax, then having this going any further in conversation is about as useful as playing chess with a pigeon.
