How many of us would love to have one of those old playgrounds in our backyard
When I was a kid in the 1970s I went to a school that had a playground like that: metal structures 3 stories high over asphalt. Nobody died.
I remember we had a playground in the 1970s that had a pole for sliding down like you would see in a fire station.
I spent half my childhood digging holes... That's what you did when you had no money and broken gi Joe's you dug holes.
Dug holes, why did them out for lakes and rivers build bridges, we even used lighter fluid to make the G.I. Joe cities catch fire!
I spent half my childhood up a tall tree. Those were the days..
I loved those. Hands smelling like nickel. 10,000 degrees in the summer.
And never put your tongue on them in the winter.
Our favorite toys in the 1960's were our chemistry sets, wood-burning craft sets, & plastic bullet-shooting guns. All are illegal today.
All I did w/ my chemistry set was to make stink bombs! My parents regretted their decision! LOL!
Same here--we always ran out of that ammonium sulfide first!! We still have the wood-burning wood carver knife set. Dangerous AF! LMAO
Sounds like a good topic to discuss with Dandrew Danglin #Snek
My playgrounds included streams, ditches, hay loft jumping, tree climbing, barbed wire, electric fences and the occasional angry farmer
It's not just the playgrounds, it's the parents that forgot kids can play with simple toys like sticks and be outside.
More non whites, lower trust society, more bubble wrap.
And to this day the creepy rigid German educational system still won't allow #homeschool #freedom.
If playgrounds were like this, today, I would be playing on them. Playgrounds, today, are laughable.
