CTE made headlines again after a study found 110 of 111 ex-NFL players studied had the brain condition. Not a random sample, still scary!

Wonder what the stats are on rugby players and if more pads make it worse

Bingo. But 110 of 113 rugby players do have cauliflower ears.

All that study means is that 110 out of 111 players who showed all the symptoms of CTE actually did have CTE. Misleading study. Still scary.

Could still be interesting statistical comparisons. What's the total population of players? Compare to matched control population

Whether the comparison means anything or not would depend on the incidence of CTE in the normal population.

Most people get bowel problems if they sit on a commode. Squat to poop and avoid the pain. It really works! #MAGA

How many of those 111 players suspected trauma prior to donating their brains? Could have skewed the results.

It makes sense that the cumulative number of hits would cause CTE. That study also looked at former HS (3/14) and college players (48/53).

It will be hard because you can only properly do the study when the individual is dead in order to take brain tissue samples
