The next time one of my grandchildren looks at stars in the night sky I’m going to post to Facebook that he/she is studying constellations. It sounds so much more impressive.

Remember, even into the mid 1800s China was so far ahead technologically and in material and industrial processes for finished and manufactured goods that the West was in constant trade deficits which eventually led to the Opium Wars.

Not really true. Britain in particular had a huge trade deficit with China due to their love of tea, whereas the Chinese had a cautious insularity with Europeans (which was not unwise). Europe was well in advance of China in most technology by then. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Divergence …

And I'm not about the PhD new stuff that I know has a lot of Asian and Indian names in it (I know Stochastic Calculus is mostly Japanese). I'm talking about the 1600-1950 knowledge that made scientific revolution possible and fills the minds of High-schooled and undergrads.

Fortunately, the whole World studies Science now (or most of it). English is the new Latin and Internet is the new press. I'm sure the next 200 years will be even greater with the precious help of non-White geniuses. And I guess Asians and Indians will easily be the new 90%.

Watching the West so deeply Nihilistic and playing Video Games makes me think that China will recover its status as the Avant-guarde of civilization. They always were (until, let's say, 1600's). They're justing recovering it. And sadly, with communists in charge.
