His plane going down was due to his own stupidly and arrogance. I’m a certificated pilot and he broke all the “rules” that good pilots have. He was inexperienced and pushed well past the limits of his experience in terms of the conditions and the complexity of his aircraft.

As much as I detest Hillary, JFK Jr killed himself, his wife, and his sister in law due to his own pilot error. He had no business flying in that aircraft, in those conditions, and at night.

Agree 100%. But they were supposed to leave earlier and were delayed. Could delays have been intentional to put them over the ocean at night (VFR into IMC)? I'm not a conspiracy nut and it is highly unlikely but these days, I feel like I have to consider the improbable too.

The PIC makes the decision. If it was too late to make the trip in daylight and VMC, then you drive or take a commercial flight.

Look at the difference. JFK Jr telegraphed his intentions, he let everyone knew what he was all about. Trump though he always let people know he had other ambitions mostly no one took him seriously some still don´t. He cloaked himself in darkness until it was too late to stop him

His plane went down because he got lost in fog and eyeballed an incorrect horizon line. Basically, he was in a dive and thought he was level. Common mistake for below average pilots.
