God's forgiveness in Christ is freely available but if you never repent, you're not forgiven. Anyone who counsels forgiveness without requiring repentance simply does not know what they are talking about.

Agree, my dad was a monster, I've never forgiven him, he doesn't deserve it and I've never been happier, once he died I was also freer than I'd ever been

Why does everyone delete their tweets when you quote them? Trust is earned. Forgiveness is given, that's why it has the word give in it.

Tying forgiveness to “living up to your expectations” (earning it) is just a way to hold on to resentment. “They didn’t live up to my expectations” is the root of all resentment. There is no way to find peace if you have resentments.

Forgiveness and love both involve letting go.

Love too, we cannot conjure up feelings of love but we can show love to another by our actions.

The Greek for “forgive” can also be translated as “let go.” You have the power to will. Forgiveness is for the forgiver, not the forgiven. Be selfish. Let go. Forgive.

We can't earn forgiveness even if we're sorry. The offended one must give it. But, offended one can forgive even if to non repentant; holding grudge is a prison.
