I assume famous environmentalists want everyone to replace in-person meetings with remote meetings. So why in earth do they fly everywhere – usually first class or in private jets - to give speeches? I can’t hear what they are saying over what they are doing.

It’s almost as if protecting the environment isn’t their actual goal. 🤔

Meanwhile over in Europe, the 'green' EU commission has just awarded itself budget to double the fleet of private jets for bureacrats. Where many nations are a few hours apart by train.

I’ve been pointing this out for years. Seems like people who expect you to follow their example should lead there — as in “you go first!”

119 private jets at Palermo. Plus a bunch of "mega-yachts". For a meeting that could be done on the internet.

The message is that we should avoid travel until it is really necessary. Since travel results in carbon emissions. Otherwise also travel has risks of accidents and contracting disease; also causes stress and single travel means less family time. So it is a good idea all around.
