Haha yeah because people in the third world have such access to electric cars. Oh and also electric cars are terrible for the environment. Also Hair dye for ancient men is worse than lipstick for young women.https://twitter.com/Newsweek/status/1177211238151049217 …

Lithium is one of the most plentiful elements in the universe. Electric vehicles are already better for the environment even if you account for the source of their power being from coal/nuclear plants. Over time, this will become even better as renewable sources increase.

But don't get me wrong. Things like the Green New Deal are about forcing socialism. Not about caring for the planet. I think we can keep our capitalist system AND move towards more renewable energy in the future. Oil is a finite resource.

We already have it with nuclear, and are working on even better, fusion, that hopefully will be ready for full scale within our lifetime.

Nuclear waste storage is atrocious. Fusion would produce much less and would be a great energy source, but we're not there yet. I hope we do figure it out.

Nuclear waste storage is only a problem because governments wont approve the safe sites for it. Instead they have to keep it in holding pools. Theres also enrichment reactors that can reprocess spent fuel.

Whatever the case may be, they haven't handled it well. Which is not surprising. It is the government we're talking about after all.

On current tech and projections and known reserves, we will run out in a future of several hundred years. Several hundred years ago, we were still using horses and sail boats and kind of knew about steam engines. We were still using candles and whale oil for light.

Fusion is coming and then energy wont be a concern and no emissions problems. Just helium which can be used for many other things, increasing the cost effectiveness even more

I've heard Teslas referred to as "coal cars" due to the big proportion of coal juicing the grid.

It’s the same in most of Canada too. You get your Learners at 16 (written test), then you have to have it for at least 18 months, before doing a Road Test to get your New Driver license. As a “new driver”, you can’t drive at night, and passengers must be family members
