Extending Roman citizenship to people not from Rome is seen as one of the reasons of the decline and fall of Rome (at least the Western empire)

I believe the Catalyst was filling the ranks of their army with Germanic people that had no allegiance to Rome but rather to their commanding officers and money.

When referring to Rome, the intermingling of different white cultures was also clearly a form of diversity. The bottom line is that civilization was built by homogenous cultures, because that's what leads to cooperation and shared goals.

You actually have a point tbh. In Africa, among many other variables, diversity has been cited as one of the key barriers to prosperity and here I'm talking about the insane number of tribes. A place like Cameroon for instance has upwards of 200 dialects/languages.

These empires were only diversified by the cultures they conquered. They then imposed their own culture, e.g. laws, architecture, religion.

Had they stayed homogeneous they may have actually survived. These are all examples of Empires that fell and the West has followed in their footsteps.

I think a better point to be made is whether diversity was ever considered a strength or virtue, especially in the way the Western world perceives it to be today, and I think the answer is most probably "No".

Q: didn't diversity actually end one, if not all, of those empires?

You know Italy had about a hundred different cultures when Rome was founded, right? There were the Etruscans, the Latiums, the Samnites, the Sabines. And that's just immediately around them. Rome the city was founded by people from all over

The Romans success partly seems to have been converting conquered peoples to their ways.
