In general They are not atheists because they don’t believe in God. They are atheists because they don’t want to believe in morality.

I am an atheist and I believe in absolute objective morality. I just don't regard religious texts as a valid source of it.

God likes this or that, and so he believes that we should do this or that. Religious morality is not concerned with and does not revolve around whether or not the thing is good for us, or the thing leads to positive outcomes. It just does what God arbitrarily wants.

Religious texts base morality on criteria and values that have nothing to do with human suffering or the betterment of human life in any way. It is solely based upon what pleases God, even if this thing increases human suffering.
