I've tried to tried to explain this to people before, it's met with resistance because the truth of it is too painful for the average worker bee. The employee pays no incomes tax, the company pays it for them. You need to actually have $ to pay taxes, & the company has all the $

Technically speaking, the incidence of the tax depends on the elasticity of supply and demand in the market. In this case, the supply of labor is pretty inelastic and the demand for labor is pretty elastic. Therefore, the worker bears most of the tax burden, not Amazon.

Payroll taxes are not income taxes. Yes, you can twist it to such. And that is what you do. And yes, there are other taxes too that help with the safety net for workers. But a direct income tax by definition of income tax, no. Show me that tax.pic.twitter.com/MTnxWk419k

Semantics. And poorly done. If the company was paying my income tax, I wouldn't see deductions on my paycheck, and I would make the actual amount of money promised when I was hired. If I was offered $20/hr, I should see an $800 paycheck with 0 deductions.
