Individuals pay those taxes AND income tax. AND until recently they didn't pay anything close to a livable wage, so were subsidized by the taxpayer. Sweet deal.

Amazon operated at a loss for decades and relatively recently they have obviously become very profitable but like any business, they can loss carry forward to lessen their tax obligations. And as you say, they pay lots of other taxes as do all the people they employ.

They do pay taxes. However, the get a deduction for employee stock options excercised. The employee receives the income and pays the tax. Tjis is a large number.

Stefan, you need to take back property taxes. Many if not all of their distribution centers are in PILOT agreements that drive up debt in local communities. I can supply data on this form of corporate welfare to you if you wish?

Amazon has set the standard for stay at home shopping, delivered in most cases without shipping, right to your door in just a few days. I’m not trying to blow their horn, but I can find stuff on their website I can’t find anywhere else. I have returned very little to them.

The biggest and most successful scam on workers is to pretend that "rich" employers pay many taxes without an effect on employees. Business owners don't pay business taxes. They write the check, but the costs bear on workers and customers. 1-->

Owners organize work and production. Regulatory burdens placed on business are paid for by customers. Taxes on business translate quickly into higher prices, lower sales, and fewer employees. 2-->

Health care, social security, and unemployment costs are almost entirely offset by offering lower wages. Employees think that they pay 7.65% of salary in social security taxes and that their employer "matches" that by also paying 7.65%. 3-->

In reality, employers pay 7.65% less in salaries than they otherwise would, to cover their payments to SSC. The employee pays 7.65% directly. The employer does not consciously do this. 4-->

Competition for skills and the value created determines what an employer can or will pay in salaries. 5--> endhttps://taxfoundation.org/what-are-payroll-taxes-and-who-pays-them …
