    Rome didn't fall in one day. Over time the incorporation of a lot of these different groups and people into the Roman government lead to changes that would eventually lead to its downfall. They didn't have Rome or Romans in their best interests.

        Fun fact, Odoacer, the barbarian warlord who killed the Emperor Romulus Augustulus in 476 CE was a Roman Patrician. The enemies were not merely inside the gates they were part of the imperial court.
