In my experience they often hide behind technical jargon that insulates them from the exposure that many of them deserve.

It’s like in football when you play an undermanned, less talented team. There is nothing to gain. Winning is meaningless. Like when a younger sibling wants to play with the big kids. It’s not that the big kids are afraid, they are just annoyed at having to play half speed.
