If you’re concerned about monopolies man you must hate the State the most. It’s a coercive monopoly. Right?https://twitter.com/NetBoyRick/status/1170756482708713473 …

You listed the failure of capitalism on your punch list. That's why I asked. I would agree with that analysis btw. People forget that it was unfettered Capitalism that led to the formation of the great Monopolies of the late 1800's. Morgan, Rockefeller, etc.

I see the State as a necessary evil. It almost always gets corrupted by money. Unfettered Capitalism is the system that allows unlimited acquisition of wealth. Enough wealth to purchase representatives and legislation.

At heart, I like the idea of anarchy but the human species hasn't had the conscious evolution necessary to handle that quite yet. IMO.

I hate the people who use force and fraud to steal resources from those who produce it. Those people appear to move seamlessly between government, business, religion, and other institutions depending on which ones best meet their needs at any given moment.

In a free market society, there wouldn’t be any monopolies. Monopolies only exist when a coercive government gets involved. Everything would be voluntary.

False. Natural monopolies form due to a variety of causes such as economies of scale (why Walmart can sell for less than small businesses), limited natural resources, high fixed costs, and more.

If it can offer products at lower prices, then that’s good for the consumer- I’m not complaining. Nothing is stopping a competitor. I’m talking about monopolies that form through government interference.

You said monopolies wouldn't exist in a free market. I just explained why that isn't true. Government made monopolies are a problem, but one that should be solved by changing policies, not abolishing government itself.

Natural monopolies wouldn’t last long if competitors found ways to offer better products at lower prices. Those aren’t bad. The best way to prevent monopolies is allowing foreign trade to happen, which is what a free market society would allow.

Too much power. Monopolies are a concentration of power, in the hands of the few, that works to destroy the free market. Monopolies are destructive to capitalism which success rests upon true free markets. Ending free market for 1 supercorpoation, the state, is not the answer.

The state must always exist. The alternative is anarchy (which only ends when someone establishes a new monopoly on violence). It's a waste of time to say "governments are bad" when the real focus should be on finding the least harmful and most beneficial form of government.
