I Always hated day care for my boys..I stopped working for 7 years so they could have ‘big-ma’ (me-actually I’m little). Now they are so big they pick me up off the floor when they hug me. Still my babies at 21&24

I work in the field and believe me, parents are not bringing their kids to be socialized

Yeah, my wife had a single mother who "focused on her career" so she was raised in daycare. It had a negative effect. A two parent household where at least one biological parent is at home at all times is the best situation. You can't argue that.

Yeah, daycare is involuntary for children. Not eating sweets at every meal is involuntary too. Sometimes children need to be pushed to do things. Children can't appropriately consent regarding most things anyway.

Not sure where you do your adulting, but in RL people must interact with and conform to social expectations in non-voluntary situations: school, work, etc . Stay at home moms provide lost of advantages. But this OP is correct.

So Stefan here advocates for laissez faire style education. Pretty sure he’s got no idea about actual pedagogy.

I've come to believe that some/majority of the anxiety that the young people are experiencing these days originates with the lack of comforting in the daycare setting, no time. Children are dropped off at daycare as early as 6 weeks old. I shutter.

As a gay man of a certain age, let me add another twist. Never have I seen so many full-grown men (well into their 30s!!!) looking for a "daddy". It's a generational thing, and it's stunning. Doesn't take a Ph.D. in sociology to figure this one out.

This is sad. All that energy searching, when all they want really is to be comforted.

To bolster your argument: https://www.naeyc.org/resources/pubs/yc/jul2018/benefits-continuity-care …

Except almost no daycares are run with continuity of care and mixed age groups, both of which simulate a family and are proven to be better.
-
If even NAEYC endorses a family setting why not just skip the middleman and care for your own family.

I’ve worked with social clubs where young people and children get to work and play with wider age ranges then a regular classroom. It affords great leadership opportunities for young people that cohort learning cant.
