Where is this idea that the state was created to serve some noble purpose coming from? Power used to be held in an extreme minority. It's been slowly becoming less centralized over time. The state was created as part of that journey.

Oh so we're all just victims of the state? Last time I checked nobody is revolting and millions happily vote in elections every few years. Why didn't the founders start anarchy after breaking free from the statist British? Becaus nobody wants it and it doesn't work.
