Academics largely rely on force and fraud for their income and prestige. Government force to protect their monopoly and funding. Fraud about the economic value of university education. They are the new aristocrats who claim to be against “exploitation.” Mostly utterly vile.https://twitter.com/GaneshNatesh/status/1169298938068967424 …

Nobody claims the peer review system is perfect. We all actively look to improve it. It is also a necessary mechanism to catch the mistakes we dont see ourselves.

Professors are instructing a generation of kids that can't figure out how to operate a rotary phone or a manual can opener. Perhaps a college degree isn't as useful today as it was in the past.

Sure, just look at Elizabeth Warren @ewarren. She used all kinds of fraud to get into (and stay in) education. Claims to be against "exploiting" students while gouging them with her text books and tuition and using affirmative action to do it! #academicAristocracy

There's tons of private universities, so you're wrong about the first point. We as a country just think investing in knowledge is worthwhile, so there's also public universities And it's the free market that's been inflating the value of degrees, by requiring them for every job

the fraud and nutty mentality in the academic publishing industry has been proven many times. this is only one of many examples you can find. https://phys.org/news/2018-10-real-fake-hoodwinks-journals.html …pic.twitter.com/IdLA1JHjbM

I went to an interview recently for a support role in academia. One female member of the panel said at one point, "we have a lot of very needy students". But the *way* she said it was like that is something to be proud of, to cultivate. All-consuming loco in parentis

That psychological dynamic, Oedipal, is one of force. I.e. I'll make you needy & dependent so that you never can leave. And I'll make you so unhealthily comfortable. That you never think about leaving.

It occurred to me while teaching at a ‘Big 10’ school that there might be a number reasons to imprison university profs when taking over a country.

Is your problem with #education the formula of preparing children for the next step in life by promising honors, or the subject matter itself? Would you prefer education be optional rather than manditory? I love the ideas of #alanwatts on education.

Too simplistic. Good for twitter rant, less to capture reality. Separate Uni in two: 1) science & 2) everything else. Most ppl in 1 genuinely care about the search for truth in the natural world. Ppl in 2 are ruled by corrupt post-modernists.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=772WncdxCSw …
