There is a solid argument to be made that Apple products success is more due to trendiness than how good they are. Lots and lots of shitty products are more popular than better competition.

Science is, in general the task of making models that represent reality. Science isn't reality, it's only the models that scientist build by observing it. The problem is that media outlets portray scientific papers as reality. They are either ignorant or malicious.
