In the modern world, where a superficial grasp of any subject is readily available, nothing. Flaubert was right on the money, intellectual laziness and banality is deeply ingrained. Sort of why I cringe whenever I see Molyneux’s “dictionnaire des idées reçues” treated as gospel.
