Can’t easily find clothes for my daughters w/out dressing them like sluts... same complaint from the wife... give me the 1950’s again. Smartest looking clothes... beautiful women & ladies clothes and handsome gents... Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Enjoyable just to watch people.pic.twitter.com/hGRzy8Bzco

I like the 50s aesthetic, but with modern cuts. The 50s physique was a lot more cigarettes and bacon grease than it was kettlebells and lean protein.

I think a lot of signalling, proving status "I don't have to work" (long fingernails, hair, impractical clothing). Also fitness - can't walk in high heels if you aren't fit.
-
Not so much "fit" as really, really thin. I actually know many bigger women who are GREAT in heels. But so many of the fashions in the haute world are just NOT going to work on bigger women like at all, heels or no heels. Or even women who just aren't rail thin.
-
Curiously, I didn't immediately find any applications of signalling theory to high heels (cursory Google search). It just seems to fit very well imo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signalling_theory … - In my opinion a very important theory without which many phenomena are difficult to understand.

Whoa...thats deep. I get the same feeling when my gf asks me if "I look nice" in one of those ridiculous dresses as when my mom use to ask me the same question.

I wasn't aware that men, and gay men in particular, were forcing women to be slaves to fashion.
-
Women always like to play the victims. There are many makers of sensible shoes that they can patronize.

You have done a lot of growing up since then. As a retired marketing person, I can tell you that most industries cater to women, even when selling male products.
