Amazing how many people here do not get their heads around awareness. Drugs only alter state of consciousness, not its stages. That means that being aware of and in altered states is not necessarily mindfulness. It's like going on vacation: a nice place to visit, but not to live.

Dylan was 'Wrecking Crew'. His work was intended to 'sophisticate' the youth of his day by inverting and dismantling social norms.
-
That’s the revolutionary spirit of his tribe. Rather than understand social norms and why they exist, just trash them!! Smh

Dylan’s a poet. He’s too busy untangling heaven from hell to care about what mere mortals think about his painkillers

You can have an addiction and be self-aware of said addiction, in fact acknowledging said addiction is a requirement to start treatment for it. You can know that something is not the best course of action and still do it.

-
oh no, he hasn't passed although I reckon with some folks he's already achieved sainthood. Enjoy your music

The best thing about Stefan’s act is how he sticks with it, hell or high water.

Dylan was addicted to heroin for a while in the 60s. Things Have Changed was released in 2000.

Well, " Just Like Tom Thumbs Blues" Aug 2 1965 describes the whole process. Starting with "When you're lost in the rain in Juarez when it's Easter time, too..." Rain was slang for heroine. It ends with: "I started out on burgundy but soon hit the harder stuff Everybody said...

...they'd stand behind me when the game got rough But the joke was on me, there was nobody even there to bluff I'm going back to New York City, I do believe I've had enough." You see drug images & direct references up until the motorcycle accident July 29, 1966. The narrative...

was he holed up with his wife, gets healed, makes the Basement Tapes, and then we have new musical phases. Dylan's "life as a self portrait" embedded or maybe programmed a malign elements 1968 cultural experiment into generations. But are you suggesting he remained an addict?
