Alpha hierarchies absolutely exist in the wild. Iguanas are a great example, so are sea lions, so are elephant seals, so are many other species.

Alpha style hierarchy doesn't exist outside captivity in mamals??? The one male lion that mates with his pride. The one ram that leads the flock. The Alpha wolf that leads the pack. The male Silverback Gorilla leads his family...The A-Team.
