I certainly have my weaknesses, but false modesty is just another form of hypocrisy.

Just from my own experience, I'm thinking of those kids that smirk and say in a sing song "I won and you lost!" That behaviour is just so brutal, I can't imagine anyone being encouraged to be that way. None of the people I look up to are like that.
I just want to live in a world where smugness is discouraged. It doesn’t win people over and isn’t the mark of leader.

Well said....I work next to someone who demonstrates false modesty constantly....sounds like fishing for compliments, its passive attention seeking behavior.
