The thing is, if we take the passage as the lame socialist wants us to ("being rich is evil" or something like), we should be destroying wealth, not redistributing it Let's make everyone poor
-
Some socialists have that mentality. Pol pot used force to drive his people away from the bountiful goods & services of capitalism and towards simple farming lifestyles. Total failure and terrifyingly destructive for the people of Cambodia.
-
Correct, only some socialists. For example, Pol pot was also an authoritarian. As they become more extreme, the right and left circle back and meet when they both become authoritarian to achieve their views.
-
To some extent I agree. They end up sharing the abysmal trait of totalitarianism.

To fully grasp and understand this passage you have to read the previous passages about the the young rich man and the following passages.

A shame plundering still happens with corporate/state cronyism, socialist programs and taxation to pay for both.

Also, within that very exchange, was Jesus telling the man that he should be forced to give his wealth to the State? NO. Jesus left it to him to decide if he should voluntarily give it to others.

I'm sorry, but I have to second-guess the validity of this statement. I just don't believe Chris would have a problem with someone being rich. Seems like propaganda to me.

Not only that, but when Christ spoke to the young ruler with great possessions...He told him, if he would be perfect, to sell his possessions and Follow Christ. The ruler refused. The ruler was expecting to be commended/validated for his good works, diligence, and success.

When we ask, "What lack I yet..?" We may find out that we arent ready to hear the answer. It also implies that sincere disciples/truth seekers ask this question seeking an answer, knowing they may have an Abrahamic challenge awaiting them...rather than an attaboy.

Ah, yes, Jesus would be a hedge fund manager today if only he had capitalism to show him the error of his philosophies.
