Capitalism is great on paper but leads to the degeneration of the family unit, nation and even the worth of the individual in his place within society. So I guess Id agree "works on paper" isn't a good goal post

I think he meant that socialism appeals to the emotions of the people who lack the wisdom to see beyond its sentimental facade. Socialism is inherently immoral. It is theft, resentment, envy. It is misery seeking misery.

I always heard growing up, that "socialism works in theory". Then I grew up, and actually read the theory. It doesn't work in theory either.

I think there's a lot of things that look great on paper, ask any engineer whose idea didn't work out. Socialism just isn't one of them. Even in its utopian form, it still requires the individual to cede property rights and coercion at every step.
