USA was founded on Christian principles. Per John Adams, "The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity...those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God."

Furthermore, Adams said, "Without religion, this world would be something not fit to be mentioned in polite company: I mean hell. The Christian religion is, above all the religions that ... existed in ancient or modern times, the religion of wisdom, virtue, equity and humanity."

I think it’s because this new internet generation can look things up ... and they are realizing that an immortal God dying for our sins doesn’t make any sense. I mean, an immortal God pretending to die seems like the lamest “sacrifice” that I can possibly imagine.

It might be interesting for you to understand why people do still come to faith. Tim Keller talks at a Google event as to what reasons people have:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kxup3OS5ZhQ …
-
Okay but he doesn't talk about how religion doesn't make sense
-
He presents why faith is still so persuasive to so many, and gives reasons as to why understanding that should be especially important for unbelievers. It could help atheists have a more nuanced view of the faithful.

This video delves into that idea in the first two minuteshttps://youtu.be/4uIvOniW8xA

I can see why many whites are rejecting Christianity at such rapid levels. Most of the Churches openly preach Leftist politics as doctrine and berate their members for not doing so as well. Why would anyone want to belong to and contribute to an organization doing that?

There are definitely progressive churches, especially in the coastal cities. Meanwhile, "rural" churches maintain traditional views. Suburban churches tend to be split.

I want to know what beliefs, if any, that 38% hold.

Looking at the map, I would wager the diminution is in the “white,” and not in the “Christian.”

Even hard core atheists like Richard Dawkins fret about losing Christianity because the alternatives are all so terrifying. America is close to the point of no return.
