Being intelligent and not being helpful is, of course, possible. A philosopher does not need to back anything with action but, to create an idea that may be plausible, worth pondering, and consideration.

I am old school. Exhaustively research, pose an arguable hypothesis based on your research, and then argue your position. If your detractors disagree, let them do their own research and rebut your hypothesis with facts, clearly and concisely argued with citations to those facts.
