When I published my first book of poetry, which had a poem about the Holocaust, my mother insisted that I include the fact that my grandfather was not permitted to publish during the Nazi era. I was raised as a Christian by schools and extended family My mother is not religious
I do not identify as Jewish. I remembered a grandmother being Jewish, and on further reflection realized it cannot have been my biological grandmother, since my mother never identified as Jewish. Also I am not circumcised, by my mom’s choice. I apologize for the confusion.
