I still maintain that women unprepared to be decent parents produce kids who grow up to be adults with the potential to be dysfunctional unproductive members of society- and thus an even bigger burden. Not all women should be parents.

In a generous welfare state like Australia remaining childless and working full-time would save the taxpayer. Less than 50% of all taxpayers here are net contributors; the average family with a couple of kids are taking more out than they put in - subsidised by the childless.

So maybe the solution here is to raise social security contributions for all and give rebates for those with kids? To balance the books in the future and be fair in the present?

It really should be mandatory to have the minimum of two kids, preferably three. Something akin to paying for medicare and social security.
