No, Rand was a total genius. Combining philosophy and fiction to reach the masses - myself included - is one of the most difficult mental tasks imaginable. Try to think of how many genuinely philosophical novels there are, and you can get a sense of how brilliant she was.https://twitter.com/Lewis30730015/status/1164668730841845761 …

Metaphysical& epistemological truisms derive from the Universal Church;the 7 Church Ecumenical Councils for starters, leading up to St. Thomas Aquinas' Thomistic philosophy. 'Philosophical realism' was a dead end,as it disregards the Unmoved Mover/Supreme Being

I'd like to see him debate Jay Dyer about this. I disagree with Dyer's particular religion, but his logic is interesting.

Jay Dyer agrees w/ the 7 ecumenical councils,as the Church hadn't been divided into East-West by the Great Schism yet in 1054. St. Thomas Aquinas' metaphysics&philosophy,as Doctor of the Roman Catholic Church,is a position that the Orthodox aren't in schism for,its supplimentary

It’s a predominantly self-centered ethics system. I think ethics ought to be focused on others. I agree with Stef though. Brilliant on epistemology

IMO, the core flaw in Rand's ethics is that she was in plain denial about the "bigger picture" of life, its intricacy, the fact that we are "extended phenotypes" (interdependency). I'd however agree w/ you that her metaphysics is gold: epistemology as the philosophy of psychology

I thought her novels had fairly flimsy narratives and character arcs. Not in same universe as Camus or Dostoevsky. I lost a lot of interest in her ideas after Greenspan sat in front of congress after the crash, and meekly said that he didn't think people would behave that way.
