I’d take it a step further. I bet when you hike by yourself you don’t feel lonely, yet some people who are surrounded by family and friends feel lonely. Loneliness is more of a perception problem. In the city it’s just as easy to be isolated as it is to find friends.

Loneliness is a symptom. The cure is across the barren horizon. If you've never been in the desert he describes, you can’t appreciate how truly vast it is.

I have been thinking for myself since high school and I am not really sure there is such a village as you speak. Even those communities can become isolated, insular, and tribal, losing their purpose to familiarity and cliques. Even Christians often have these issues.

I know all about it....

Watched this yesterday. As it happens, I'm experiencing this phenomenon right now. I'm doing something natural to cure my cancer (yes, it's working!), but it's stunning how so many of my friends have been reacting -- with outright anger -- to my defying the dominant paradigm.

Extremely touching Stefan. Watching again. Zero feelings of loneliness but yearning to not be chained to a job in the city and get back to my childhood roots - living out in the countryside. Mine would have more birds - only saw a bird over the pond and heard crows. #birding

Thanks for taking us on that journey . It was rousing and it’s really about finding that best you, but the world hates you for it and it feels like betrayal. They can’t be blamed though you have to find your like minded people.
