Gems are worth more than diamonds. Diamonds form in space, get called ice because they are actually cold to the touch due to being the densest possible configuration of carbon, and can now be synthetically manufactured from anything, including peanut butter.

But guys, DeBeers is (was) a total male dominated company, so when they were the culprit of advertising big klonker rings, who has been manipulating whom eh?

DeBeers brilliant marketing propaganda. . . as well as monoplizing the trade by hoarding (!?) diamonds and keeping them, thereby making them artificially scarce and therefore expensive (RE: Law of Supply and Demand).

Diamond rings only exist for women to impress other women! I wish I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard, “did you see that rock on her finger??” Always remarked (in my case) by a woman!!

Exactly. DeBeers stinks. Buy emerald/ruby/sapphire rings for your wives. They’re prettier & more rare.

I don't understand why we value these things so much, there are translucent river rocks everywhere with no monitary value that would be equally if not more beautiful once shaped and polished but they aren't considered gem stones.

Weird in the cape town diamond museum they say this In the time of the Pharaohs, 3000BC, a diamond was placed in the middle of the ankh – a cross with a loop on top. This was the Egyptian hieroglyph meaning life. Diamonds represented the sun, symbol of power, courage and truth.
