They'd be more interested in trying not to die. It's a luxury of a first world civilization. Some of the reason woman make themselves look better is to have more influence over men. I don't think many people would disagree. I don't think it's THE reason though. It's complex.

Unfortunately it's probably equally as likely as them building a shelter, water filtration, a fire and a long drop, and even more likely than them hunting for food. My Mrs would starve before she would hunt for food

I don't polish mine, I put nail varnish on them cos I love the colours.

Question: what kind of circumstances would put a woman alone on an island with just nail polish? That’s not even a compelling fantasy.
