Is there an ethical obligation to pay any attention to ethical theory? If there is, then there's already an ethic operating, an already-idling ethical engine running in the background, as Kai Nielsen remarked. If not, then any ethics depends on non-ethically-binding premises.
I agree – I certainly did my best, writing an entire book on how to prove secular ethics. I did interviews, podcasts, videos, speeches... Neither the atheists nor the libertarians were very interested. It's strange how religious-like so many atheists wind up being. It's not to say I'm better as an agnostic, but it seems to me people who are able to be truthful to themselves (introspective) seem to have less difficulty handling dissenting views.

Within your book you did not really thoroughly explain why the desire for truth should be accepted as a presupposition and an axiom, its not really objective if it starts off with a subjective preference.
