Women also want to nurture their femininity and their beauty through their deportment. It’s not just about their sex appeal. Men don’t stay just for that. It’s important but it’s not enough on its own.

I agree, well said.

You’re a dedicated truth seeker Stefan. And I agree that too many women use make-up and sexual power to gain a (shallow and short-lived) advantage.

But are men really attracted to & want to take care of women when they have heaps of makeup on? They always say they prefer natural look? Which one is it?

I think I spent a total of 15$ in my lifetime on makeup (I am 57 now)...hated the feel of it.. while I think it is true that women use makeup to feel more attractive.. it is more because they don't feel pretty bare faced..I had 5 sisters who all wore it.. to varying degrees

Or they don’t want to be fired from the sweet gig that is marriage! Do men start earning less money when the get hitched? Don’t think so.

Your characterizations are mostly based on urban women. In rural settings women are less likely to use makeup, more likely to dress adrogynously for utility, and perceive partnerworth as related to skills over money.

We also get harshly judged by fellow women who can be rather vile and cruel. If we aren't doing make up & expensive hand bags we are ridiculed / ostracized. I avoid such women but can't always do so. I am sure men do it too but in other ways about other things. Hierarchies.

Make up is armor too. Some women feel very vulnerable & paint that mask on every day to feel confident, to hide flaws which are weaknesses too (exhaustion, aging, ashen or sallow complexion). We don't think about sex putting it on just about being "better". Prettier /healthier
