    Another reason why men wear hats: As they age, men’s hair starts fading and thinning out. It’s a sign of declining virility. Which helps women who want children to look at younger men. The wearing of hats is an attempt to counter signal this reality.

        To be fair we men're also prone to pretending to be younger and healthier than we actually are though plastic surgery, tanning salons and garments, suits in particular. We're also prone to deluding ourselves about our own age too. But then this not in contradiction to your tweet
